301 Stainless Steel Strip
301 stainless strip is a high-strength austenitic stainless steel in the 300 series, with a main composition of 16-18% chromium and 6-8% nickel. It meets standards such as ASTM A240 and is equivalent to grades such as 1.4310 (EN).
301 stainless strip has excellent work hardening properties, and its strength increases significantly after cold working. This also causes it to be partially magnetic, depending on the degree of cold rolling. 301 stainless strip also has good corrosion resistance, but slightly less than 304 steel.
It is often used in applications that require a combination of formability and strength, such as springs, fasteners, automotive parts, railway carriages, conveyor belts, and decorative parts.
Unlike martensitic stainless steels, 301 stainless strip cannot be hardened by heat treatment, but only by cold rolling.
