6063 Aluminum Coil

6063 alloy belongs to the 6000 series and is an aluminum alloy with magnesium and silicon as alloying elements. 6063 aluminum has excellent mechanical properties and corrosion resistance, and is heat treatable and easy to weld. The mechanical properties of 6063 largely depend on the tempering or heat treatment of the material. Commonly used states include O, H4, H6, H651, F, etc.

The main alloy elements of 6063 aluminum coil are magnesium and silicon, and form the Mg2Si phase. If it contains a certain amount of manganese and chromium, it can neutralize the adverse effects of iron. Sometimes, a small amount of copper or zinc is added to increase the strength of the alloy without significantly reducing its corrosion resistance.

6063 aluminum coil characteristics

  • Strength: 6063 aluminum coil has good strength, especially compared with 1xxx and 3xxx series aluminum alloys. However, it is not as strong as some other 6xxx series alloys (such as 6061).
  • Corrosion resistance: It has good corrosion resistance and is suitable for outdoor applications.
  • Machinability: 6063 is easy to machine and is a good choice for extrusion processing.
  • Weldability: Welding can be done using a variety of methods, but its strength will be affected by the welding process.

Application of 6063 alloy aluminum coils

Pipes and Tubes: It is also used in pipes and tubes where corrosion resistance and lightweight construction are important.
Furniture: Due to its lightweight and easy-to-work properties, 6063 aluminum is used to manufacture lightweight furniture, especially in outdoor environments.

Construction: 6063 is commonly used in architectural applications such as window frames, door frames, curtain walls, and extruded trim. Its corrosion resistance and ability to be anodized or painted make it ideal for these uses.

In addition, 6063 aluminum is also widely used in the production of extruded profiles, such as T-slot aluminum profiles, for manufacturing, construction, and electronics industries.
