317 Stainless Steel Bar is an austenitic stainless steel that contains molybdenum. This grade has improved corrosion resistance over 304/304L and 316/316L.
317 stainless steel bar is an austenitic stainless steel coil containing molybdenum. 317 stainless steel is approximately twice as strong as austenitic stainless steel and also has increased resistance to localized corrosion, especially pitting, crevice corrosion, and stress corrosion cracking. Type 317 stainless steel has a high chromium content (19-32%) and a molybdenum content of up to 5%, with a lower nickel content than austenitic stainless steel. The properties of 317 stainless steel are achieved through a lower overall alloy content than similar performing super austenitic grades, making it cost-effective in many applications.
