904L Stainless Steel Pipe
904L stainless steel pipe is a non-stabilized, high-alloy austenitic stainless steel with low carbon content. It is widely used in applications where the corrosion properties of TP316/L and TP317/L are not adequate. The alloy also offers excellent formability, weldability, and toughness. The addition of copper gives alloy 904L corrosion-resistant properties that are superior to the conventional chrome-nickel stainless steels. Examples include resistance to sulfuric, phosphoric, and acetic acids.
904L stainless steel pipe is a highly alloyed, low-carbon containing, non-stabilized austenitic stainless steel grade. Copper has been added to the alloy of 904L Stainless Steel Pipe. Hence, its resistance to strong reducing acids such as sulfuric acid is very high. The lower content of carbon makes it easier to produce the AISI 904L Welded Pipe according to the specification ASTM A312. Though the content of carbon is lower, these pipes could be used for high-temperature applications. The significant inclusion of nickel in the alloy of ASME SA 312 TP904L makes it possible for the pipes to have an outstanding performance even in elevated settings. Along with being a non-magnetic alloy, the Stainless Steel 904L Pipe also exhibits good resistance to stress-related corrosion cracking. The presence of molybdenum in the alloy reduces the occurrence of crevice corrosion. Along with being used in applications between moderate to high temperatures, the ASTM A312 TP904L is primarily useful for general corrosion applications.
